Alfred Police Officers

Chief of Police Paul Griffith - Serving Since 1996
 Paul graduated from the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy in Corning NY in 1995.

In 1996, he was appointed as a part-time Patrolman for the Village of Alfred.

In September of 1997, he accepted a full-time position with the City of Hornell Police Department and in September of 1998 he accepted a transfer to Alfred    as a full-time Patrolman. In 2006 Paul was promoted to the rank of Sergeant/Investigator and took over all of the investigative duties from Sergeant Billings.  On October 14th 2014 Paul was Promoted to Chief of Police. Paul has an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Park and Rec Law Enforcement from Vermilion  Community College in Ely, Minnesota and also completed the Seasonal Park Ranger Training.

Paul has numerous certifications and specialized training to his credit

Sergeant Robert Billings - Serving Since 1990
  Rob was appointed as a full-time Patrolman in 1990 and graduated from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Academy. In 1997, Rob was promoted to the rank of Sergeant/Investigator. Rob was the lead investigator and supervised all departmental investigations until 2006. In addition to his supervisory duties as Sergeant, Rob directs the department's field training program. Rob has numerous other certifications and specialized training to his credit.

Patrolman Tory Rounds - Serving Since 1997
  Tory graduated from the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy. In 1997, he was appointed as a part-time Patrolman and was appointed to full-time status in 1998. Tory's departmental assignments include bicycle patrol, field training officer, DWI and Vehicle & Traffic Coordinator, and he is a former ALERT officer. In addition, Tory has numerous other certifications and specialized training to his credit.  He also serves part-time with the Wellsville and Willing Police Departments.

Patrolman Ryan McKee - Serving Since 2010

Ryan graduated from the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy and was appointed as a full time officer in 2010. Ryan's departmental assigments include field training officer, bicycle patrol and evidence / property custodian.

Patrolman Dylan Burch - Serving Since 2013

Dylan graduated from the Chatauqua County Sheriff's Academy and was appointed as a full time officer in 2013. Dylan's departmental assignments include general topics instructor, bicycle patrol and field training officer.  He also serves part-time with the Cuba Police Department.

Part-time Officers

Patrolman James Rumfelt - Serving Since 2000
  Jim was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2000;  He serves full time as the Officer-in-Charge for the Andover Police Department and works part time for the Alfred University Public Safety Department.

Patrolman John Dougherty - Serving Since 2002
  John was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2002;  He works full time for Alfred University as the Director of the Public Safety Department and part-time for the Wellsville Police Department.

Patrolman Charles Thompson - Serving Since 2012

Chuck was re-appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2012; He previously served as part-time Patrolman from 1990 - 2000.  He retired as a Sergeant in 2012 from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office with over 30 years of service.

Patrolman Matthew Dodge - Serving Since 2005
  Matt was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2005;  He works full time for the Alfred University Public Safety Department.

Patrolman Wayne Minges - Serving Since 2005 
  Wayne was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2005;  Full time, Wayne owns and operates Minges Flooring in Olean and Wellsville, and Sunny Hill Campground in Richburg, NY.

Patrolman Mark Woodworth - Serving Since 2006
  Mark was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2006;  He serves full time for Alfred State College- University Police Department.

Patrolman Mark Collins - Serving Since 2012

Mark was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2012.

Patrolman Cole Finnemore - Serving Since 2012

Cole was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2012;  He serves full time as a Correction Officer for the Steuben County Sheriff's Department and serves part-time for the Belmont Police Department.

Patrolman Brandon Austin - Serving Since 2013

Brandon was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2013; He works full time for the Alfred University Public Safety Department and serves  part-time for the Canisteo Police Department.
