Chief of Police Paul Griffith / Badge 450
Serving Alfred Since 1996 Paul graduated from the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy in Corning NY in 1995. In 1996, he was appointed as a part-time Patrolman for the Village of Alfred. In September of 1997, he accepted a full-time position with the City of Hornell Police Department. In September of 1998 Paul accepted a transfer to the Alfred Police Department as a full-time Patrolman. In 2006 Paul was promoted to the rank of Sergeant/Investigator and took over all of the investigative duties. On October 14, 2014, Paul was Promoted to Chief of Police. Paul has an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Park and Recreational Law Enforcement from Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minnesota and also completed the Seasonal Park Ranger Training. Sergeant Joshua VanSkiver / Badge 451
Serving Alfred Since 2003 Joshua graduated the Southern Tier Police Academy in 2003 and started his career at the Alfred Police Department as a Part -Time police officer and a full-time Steuben County Deputy. In 2005 Joshua was hire by the Corning Police Department as a full-Time police officer. In 2008 Joshua transferred to the Elmira Police department. Joshua was on the S.W.A.T Team and also was also the STOP DWI officer. In 2018 Joshua transferred to the Steuben County Sheriff Office where is continued working on the STOP DWI Program and was also the S.W.A.T Team Commander. In 2021 Joshua was awarded a life time achievement award for the NYS record for most DWI Arrests by a single officer. In 2022 Joshua transferred back to the Alfred Police Department as our Sergeant Investigator. Joshua has numerous certifications and specialized training to his credit. Contact: [email protected] |

Serving Alfred Since 2010 Ryan graduated from the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy and was appointed as a full time officer in 2010. Ryan's departmental assignments include Firearms instructor, field training officer, bicycle patrol, Principled Policing Instructor and General Topics Instructor. Patrolman Mark Collins/ Badge 453 Serving Alfred Since 2012 Mark was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2012. Mark is a 2012 graduate of the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy (S.T.L.E.A.) in Corning N.Y. Mark was hire Full-Time in 2018. Mark is our department Evidence custodian, General Topics Instructor and Field training officer. Mark has numerous certifications and specialized training to his credit. Patrolman Tory (Terry) Rounds / Badge 454
Serving Alfred Since 1997 Tory was A full-time Police officer for the Village of Alfred for 17 years at which time he transferred to the Village of Wellsville Police Department. Tory retired from Wellsville PD and returned to Alfred as a part-time officer in 2017. Terry currently works at the Genesee Valley central school as the schools resource officer. Serving Alfred Since 2013 Brandon was appointed as a part-time Patrolman in 2013; He worked full time for the Alfred University Public Safety Department and in March of 2015 he was appointed as a full-time police officer for the Village of Alfred. In 2021 Brandon resigned his full-time position and is currently part-time. Brandon is a graduate of the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy (S.T.L.E.A.) in Corning N.Y.. Serving Alfred Since 2023 Matthew started his career with the Alfred State Public Safety in 1996 as a peace officer. In 1999 Alfred State Public Safety Transitioned to Alfred State University Police. Matthew then attended the Rural Police Training Academy in Batavia and Graduated in 2002 as a Police Officer. Before his retirement from UPD he held the rank of lieutenant and Chief of Police. Matthew also graduated in 2004 with a BA Degree in Management from Houghton College. Matthew has numerous certifications and specialized training to his credit. Matthew is currently the Officer in Charge of the Angelica Police Department and previously employed by the Andover Police Department.
